Quick and easy hot smoothie recipes

On those cold winter mornings, there is no better way to start your day than with a warming winter smoothie.

These warm smoothie recipes are quick and easy to make and can be left refrigerated for a couple days after being made. Whether you’re a fan of apple smoothies, green smoothies, chocolate smoothies, coffee smoothies, or orange smoothies, there is a recipe for everybody to enjoy!

Oaty mocha hot smoothie

Ingredients

  • 15g dark chocolate

  • 240ml almond milk

  • 1 oz shot of espresso (or 1 tsp instant coffee granules mixed with 2 tbsp water)

  • 3 tbsp rolled oats

  • ½ ripe medium sized banana

  • 8 hazelnuts

  • 1 tsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp maca powder (optional)

  • 2 tbsp cold water

Method

  1. Roughly chop the dark chocolate and place the chunks into a jug. Add the almond milk and the espresso (or instant coffee).

  2. Microwave the mixture until all of the chocolate has melted into a hot liquid.

  3. Into a blender, add about a fifth of the milk mixture alongside the oats, banana, hazelnuts, chia seeds, and water. Add maca powder at this stage if you wish.

  4. If the liquid is too warm for your taste, add an extra splash of cold water.

  5. Blend the ingredients together on a high setting for about a minute, or until the oats and chia seeds have completely combined into the mixture.

  6. Reheat the remaining milk mixture until it is hot, but not boiling.

  7. When ready to serve, pour the smoothie into a cup and stir in the milk mixture. Enjoy!

Hot apple pie smoothie

Ingredients

  • 200ml unsweetened almond milk

  • 20g vanilla flavoured protein shake

  • 2 tsp almond butter

  • 2 tsp biscoff spread (optional)

  • 1 large apple

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Method

  1. Chop the apple into chunks, leaving the skin on.

  2. Add the apple, almond milk, almond butter, protein powder, and cinnamon into a blender and mix until well combined. Add biscoff spread at this stage if you wish.

  3. Pour the cold smoothie into a pan and warm it on a low simmer. Serve and enjoy!

Orange, carrot, and ginger hot smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 large orange

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger

  • 1 large carrot

  • ½ lemon

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 200ml water

  • 50ml cold water

Method

  1. Juice the orange and lemon, wash and chop the carrot, grate the ginger, and boil the water.

  2. Add the orange and lemon juice, ginger, carrot, honey, cold water, and a splash of the hot water into a blender.

  3. Blend all the ingredients until everything has incorporated. When ready to serve, stir in the remaining hot water and enjoy!

Salted Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate Warm Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 cup cauliflower rice

  • 1 banana

  • 1 cup baby spinach

  • 2 tbsp peanut butter

  • ½ cup chocolate protein powder

  • ¼ cup raw cacao

  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

  • ¼ tsp coarse sea salt, for topping

Method

  1. In a pan, bring the almond milk to a simmer.

  2. Once warm, add the almond milk, cauliflower rice, banana, spinach, peanut butter, chocolate protein powder, raw cacao, and chia seeds into a blender. Mix at a high setting.

  3. Top with sea salt to serve. Enjoy!

Warm chai smoothie

Ingredients

  • ½ cup spinach

  • 1 herbal green, white, or black tea bag (add ½ boiling water)

  • ½ cup coconut milk

  • ½ pear

  • ½ apple

  • 1 medjool date

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ inch ginger root

  • ⅛ tsp ground cardamom

  • 1 serving protein powder (optional)

Method

  1. Place the tea bag into boiling water, adding the brew into a blender along with the spinach and coconut milk. Blend until smooth.

  2. Peel and remove the core of the apple and pear, adding it to the blender along with the date, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom. Add protein powder at this stage if you wish.

  3. Begin blending again on a low setting and slowly work up to high setting. Blend for around 3 to 5 minutes or until the smoothie is very hot. Serve and enjoy!
