Feeling Knee-dy

Hello and welcome to Tobias talks.

I'm back from Bulgaria!

In short it was an incredible trip with some of the most important people in my life, it was truly incredible, but... there is very little relevant to health and wellbeing so I will move swiftly on.

The running has been going really well, but as my training progresses I can feel that I am causing additional stress on my body, particularly my knees. it's nothing painful at the moment, but I can feel that after a longer run, anything over 60 mins, that they are sorer than I'd like them to be. Yesterday evening was spent looking for scientific journals around strengthening the knees, it seems that I am ok doing what I'm doing as long as I don't run too far, fast, or frequently.

With that in mind I am now limiting myself to 1 hour runs maximum and only doing these at a very low intensity, any speed work will be done for a maximum of 5k or 30 minutes.

I will continue to exercise in the mornings but will include more walking/rucking as opposed to almost daily running.

The goal is still to run a half marathon in April but I won't be able to do this if my knees are shot to bits.

Weight loss will be absolutely key if I am planning to achieve this, I have lost weight over the last 3 weeks, so I will continue to eat well and exercise often. I will be attempting an Intermittent fasting protocol, but I will keep it simple, essentially skip breakfast and don't eat too late at night. So essentially a Midday to 8pm eating window. Nice and easy to follow without having to think too much about it.

With all of the above taken into account I am feeling optimistic for this week.

Thanks for reading,

Your friend, Tobias.
