Remember to remember

Hello and welcome to Tobias Talks
I'm at a bit of a loss what to talk about today, the week has flown by and I have failed at almost every aspect of health and fitness.
I'm sure I'm not alone in this but I always struggle to lose weight as I simply forget that I'm trying. It can get to Wednesday before I stop and think "Crap, I was meant to be dieting." It feels so odd. It's one thing losing discipline when you know you want to eat well and lose weight but what do you do when you just don't remember that you were even attempting it.
It's got to the point that I think I need to get some sort of visual reminder. Maybe I should use a calendar and X out a box every day. a la every 80's film montage. Or perhaps I need to do get a brightly coloured rubber wristband like all those "awareness" brands did a decade ago. Remember?
Either way, I need to think of some sort of solution to this.
I like to think I'm progressing on my fitness journey, finding new obstacles and overcoming them, whether it's exercise, diet or mental health I have learned a lot over the last year, but I have still a long way to go.
This issue seems a be a more pervasive lack of mindfulness in my daily life. I am often on auto pilot and sometimes I don't actively decide my life. So I need to be more vigilant and make a plan for each day. So I know if I'm sticking to it or not.
While I'm at it, I'll also look online for a visual reminder, perhaps a cheap ring?
Any suggestions are always helpful, I look forward to hearing from you.
